If you ask New London for food a 2nd time, they'll pass either Sawdust or Soup. It only takes like 30 game minutes to switch over, but that's still a production loss you can mitigate. Note: I did it with 3 residential (running 24hrs/day) and was fine. You will need 2 to cover the homes early on, but after researching Range Extension, you can fit all houses for people in range of 2 brasiers with careful planning. Maximize coverage of brasiers for homes.Abandon them in the frostland for fewer mouths to feed. Scouts and build teams don't need to eat.The Shipwreck Camp is your only source of wood, but you can trade them steel for wood and favor, so only ask for wood if you're out and need it for projects. They always offer this so it doesn't matter what their favor level is at, but it caps at High, so make sure to tithe them every other day for 60 food, or every day for 30 food. The Hot Springs, bug them for food and only food. The Children's mine offers steel at Average favor, but NOT high favor, so make sure to bug them every morning for their tithe. You can't generate steel fast enough to meet demand on your own, you need a little help from your friends. "But I'm exporting steel!" I hear you say. Don't ever ask people to send you workers, engineers, or coal You should focus on having them send you steel and food.Steel and steam cores are your #1 resource and you will always be low on them if you're doing it right. Work your armory fully staffed and on extended shifts constantly.The 100 coal they send every other day isn't worth the steel investment. Just do the first level and don't waste resources on a secure route.
